Testimonials

Dear Greg,

After our phone conversation yesterday I have been thinking about how best to describe how much you helped us become a more efficient and productive company. The work we did with you on creating a structure for weekly meetings with the field superintendents, production manager and estimator was very valuable. Your help with the creation of a written set of accountabilities for each of our managers and our superintendents has helped all personnel to set goals for themselves and to focus and regularly report on them.

While we decided not to implement the Lean Production System you taught us, we do continue to benefit from the concepts that were a part of it, especially the idea that a construction project is a “network of commitments”. Our superintendents have learned how to ask for a firm commitment to a schedule from subcontractors and we all continue to be amazed how effective such a simple thing is in improving the efficiency of the projects. The work planning reports you provided for us from the Lean Institute proved to be more complicated than we needed, but the process of designing simple planning forms for the superintendents helped us to clearly focus on a planning and reporting process that worked for us and to realize how powerfully useful a simple planning document can be.

Since we stopped working with you we have continued to develop our procedures and systems manual and to improve our management team, but I give you the credit for helping us initially find the clear path through the cluttered and often imposing landscape that is the world of residential construction.

Best Regards,
David Leff

My business was like so many others, a tale of feast and famine, although on average it was much more famine than feast. I was very disheartened, and was beginning to think that I could never have a consistently profitable business. I was especially frustrated with the lack of cooperation my employees gave me. Over the years an adversarial, us-against-them attitude became the norm. I was ready to give up on the idea that I could ever turn this around. I was most despondent because I recognized the problems, but I could not see a way out. I hired Greg and things began to change almost immediately. Now it’s been just over 6 months and I have to say, I never thought it was possible to experience the extraordinary change in attitude I’m seeing with my employees. It’s just really amazing to see the day-to-day changes as they buy into the notion that we are all in the same boat. We are transforming this into a team that is playing together to win, and we are on the road to profitability. This is definitely working for me and I am very thankful.

We have had the pleasure to be working with Gregory Neil Associates for the last several years in developing the success of our management team at Hammond & Company. Greg's insightful skill in developing management accountabilities and assisting us to keep them in focus has helped us enormously. We are better communicators of what is truly important, more thorough in our considerations of getting the best results, and more able to rely on one another to manage workflow with continuous improvements along the way. Greg has made a significant contribution to my feeling of being supported by the team, and has eased the burden of feeling the need to micro-manage all parts of the process. HIs presence has been much appreciated in stewarding us through a time of significant organizational growth and development.

The process of organization that GNA brought to our company has been very empowering. Everything that has been done has been done for the crew, and been done involving the crew. I love that I have been free and able to participate in the design of processes and practices in the company that concern me. Since GNA began working with our company, Mark (the owner) has relaxed considerably, and significantly increased his level of trust in us, such that we feel able to bring more voice to solving our own problems as a team.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your assistance, which is always given on such a professional level. Some of the helpful things which you have brought to our meetings include your experience in working with construction companies of various sizes. I appreciate that you are able to understand the dynamics of a small company like mine, and that you understand the path to organizing a company a little larger than mine currently is. Also, it has been helpful that you can see how ideas and systems that larger companies employ can be downsized and applied in a smaller company. Thanks also for helping me sharpen my interviewing skills and in encouraging me to find the right person for the job.

GNA was able to develop a strategy of success for the company in a very unique manner. By observing and understanding the problems of the company he created a process of team-building and company re-structuring that has proved to be invaluable. Even after a short period of time, where managers and "team mates" were taught a new language to speak, results were clear and evident.— J.J. of Caletti Construction
